The Voroshilovkoye deposit is in the location of an earlier gold mine, in the north-east of the Amur region.  Gold is associated with sulphides in meta-quartzite crush-zones within a sequence of Palaeouncesoic slates and shales.  Old mine workings were both shallow open-pit and underground, but did not exploit the whole of the known ore body.
